Need some help. I have a 45acp that is giving me problems. I am using a castboolit with 11g of h110. The primer is a CCI primer. The problem I am having is for some reason the powder is not burning. The boolit will leave the barrel but only under the power of the primer. I have been reloading for a few years and haven't had a problem like this before. I would be greatful for any help.

H110 is not the best of powders in the .45 ACP. You would be much better off with bullseye, red dot or unique. The .45 ACP works at to low a pressure to work well with H110 or any of the slow pistol powders.

Another good powder for the .45 ACP is WW-231. It's easy to get factory duplicate loads with either 231 or Bullseye.

I'm pretty good at finding obscure loads, but this one has me stumped. I did find a 45 ACP H-110 load in Handloader #37, but this isn't it.

+1 on W231
It has taken over as my low velocity pistol powder, it's clean meters well, and get good results.

Thanks for the help. The gentelman I got the information from has been reloading a lot longer than me. I normaly use the W231 but thought I would try this out since I have so much of it on hand. Again thanks for the help. I am sure that I will be back with more dumb questions.

Probably best to double check that gentleman's load advice in the future. H110 is NOT a good choice for 45 ACP, as others have stated. H110 is for use in magnum pistol cartridges, at full charges ONLY. Do not reduce H110 loads, and do not try to use it in low pressure cartridges.
IMO, your lucky one of those didn't really light up.

i would suggest you invest some money in a couple of reloading books, and spend less time listening to that person.
the simple reccommendation of a high pressure powder to be used in a known low pressure round invalitades him as a source of loading data PERIOD

just casue someone has done something for years does not mean they are good.
