Greetings All,

Has anyone tried Goex Pinnacle w/cast boolits in any BP Cartridges? Is it accurate? Have any problems? Have any input?

I want to try it in Lever and Single Shot in different calibers. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jon

Greetings, Jon K,

I tried PinnAcle 3fg for my "Thumper" project. Velocity spread from shot to shot was a little greater than Goex 3fg. Not nearly as consistant. Due perhaps to the extremely coarse granulation. My other comments on PinnAcle can be found on:

Can't tell about accuracy, as I couldn't shoot for absolute accuracy during my testing, and "Thumpers" bore isn't exactly pristine.

Boy, that's a cool mould for Thumper.... Now get one that has that base cone on both sides for the uber hollowpoint. ;)

I was wondering the same thing about Pinnacle in my .357. I am shooting for a slow, super quiet load that shoots 1 minute of raccoon out of a 20" levergun.

I have lots of Pinnacle 3F, Shockey's Gold 3F, and 4F BP - none of which I use in my current MLs. I really want to use up the Pinnacle and APP/Shockey, so I thought "catsneeze" 'coon-busters would be just the thing (heavy, slow, soft, HP - like a 158 LSWCHP (180 would be better...)

Thanks for the input Guys,

I have tried APP and Pinnacle in 38-55,40-65, & 45-70, more than one time, several. BP is more accurate and consistant in these cases.

I have been lurking in some other forums, and have heard that in the smaller calibers and pistol cartridges, it should work fine. That is my next project, I'll be testing Pinnacle 3F in a 32-20 Win Low Wall & a 45 lc Uberti 73.
