Anyone have a good source for commercial cast bullets in 38-55 caliber? The bullets must be .379" diameter.

The only cast bullets that I have purchased were from http://www.laredobullets.com/products.php

Not a site sponsor but he's local for me. Local sales tax but no shipping charges.

I thought I would buy some 38-55 boolits for now, instead of casting my own. Seems that good casting moulds that throw a bullet of .379-.380" are not that easy to find. Most mould makers seem to make mould for the 375 Winchester barrel demensions, not a true 38-55. Reloading dies makers seem to have the same problem, as dies and expander buttons are made for bullets of .377" and not .379-.380" of the 38-55 barrels.

I wrote to Lyman about this problem with their 38-55 dies, and they said sorry, we can't help you.

I have to use my Lyman dies and only partially size the neck to get them to work for my 94 Winchester in 38-55. If I full length size the cases and load .379" or .380" boolits, the case is sized down to much. The expander button is too small, and the die demensions are to tight. Seems most dies for the 38-55 are set up for .377" boolits.

I bumped into these on Midway while poking around. One reviewer says that it comes with expanders in the sizes you need. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=414014

My Lyman bullet cast at .3775" which is fine for a .377 size. The Saeco linked above has a taper with bottom two bands at .382". Works best in single shots where you can load out to the rifling.

BRP has what you need here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=58620

I think Buffalo Arms catalog would have some moulds also.
