Lead prices jumped 50% in the last week here in SE MI. Looks like I'm out of business. Oh well.

Your not alone ! Here in Saskatoon Iv'e been waiting for the right moment to buy a thousand pounds of W/W and was just about set to do the deal this coming friday . Last I checked they were selling for .25 a pound as of yesterday they are now .80 cents per pound and suposidly going up fast . The scrap dealer claims that this is the fatest climbing scrap comodity at this time .

Ok, just checked here, Was looking to trade some WW for Lead... Scrap yard is buying WW for $.25/lb and selling lead for $.75/lb...

If you look at the LME graphs, the stocks have been steady, but price is rising.. Could it be the e-Idiots selling for $1/lb driving it up???

Perfect time to get in on some Modified Wheel Weight Alloy. Needs no added tin and is ready to go right in your pot!

Spot price on new lead has been hovering around a buck for a while now. Historically, it's about half of that. Last December, it was down around $0.40

Most of the World's new lead is mined in China. Evidently, a few months back there was a revolt in one of the gulags (Oops, I mean town) where they mine it because people were dying from lead poisoning. They shut down operations in that area which has impacted the availability and the futures price of lead.

The audacity of some people expecting to not die from doing their job. What is the world coming to?

I was going to buy a ton two weeks ago at $0.15 a pound. My truck was in the shop, got it back yesterday. Went in to the scrapyard this morning ready to spend $300, and the dealer told me $2,400!!! $0.95 in two weeks!!!

My local metals merchant used to have 3 five foot by five foot by four foot deep bins full of wheel weights for $.25 per pound. i could even sort them on the spot. That was three months ago.

I went out to buy a couple hundred pound this week and all the bins were completely empty. I was told large companies are contracting to buy all the wheel weights they take in and that is happening everywhere.... What we feared is happening.. Just a heads-up, guys......

$150 per kg here in australia

WOW:shock:

I hope you mean $1.50 / KG

That would be $58.78 / lb in US$ @ $150 AUS / KG

If that's true, I think I should be in the lead export business!!!
