I have been shooting a full but not compressed case of WC860 behind a 190 grain 311644 for a while now in my wally world Stevens 200. Next Sunday is the 300 yard prone match. Both of my chidlren want to shoot that match too. I have a TC Contender rifle in 223, MY 22-250 and need another rifle for the match. Tonight just for the heck of it, I shot this rifle and load to see if it would shoot at 300. I had a 5 shot group at 4 inches. I added 5 more to the group and it became 9 inches for 10 shots, and 5 inches for 8 shots. This is with 46 grains of powder and boolits poured of wheel weights and "some" tin quenched. Boolits were not weighed, just visiually inspeced and loaded. Lube was LAR45's red carnuba lube.

I am going to weigh 50 boolits and load them for the match next sunday. I hope my son doesn't mind the kick, because it belts me pretty good. I will crony the loads before next week. Should be around 1600 fps, but my shoulder says more like almost 2,000 fps.

I had to go up 52 clicks to go from the 100 yard Zero to a 300 yard Zero.

As Pat Marlin says, I'm doing the happy dance.

David, funny you should mention the 311644. I just started palying around with it. Just this evening I shot 3 almost into the same hole at 50 yards in failing light with 25.0/5744 in my 03 Sporter. Gonna test this some more!

That said, I am waiting for your range report with 860 in the .308. This boolit appears to be capable of some good work. Please be sure to let us know. I know I have at least one old can of 8700 that could be put to use. Purchased new it was about 6 bucks - you figure about how long ago that coulda been. sundog
