The Ol' Buffalo sight lists that as a 205 grain bullet, plain base. I suspect it's original intention was for the .44 WCF (.427") and you'll be lucky, unless it's either out of spec, out of norm, or been doctored, to get it to cast much bigger than .429". But I could be wrong.

Mine drops at .328 with wheel weights, never tried varying the alloy to get it bigger, I like soft bullets.

This was listed by Lyman as the standard bullet for the 44-40 and it was 205 grains. It was intended for Black Powder where one filled up the case and seated it in front of the front band. Lyman catalogue lists its casting diameter as .429, but I think with WW you can get .430 and by tossing in some tin you can get it up to .431 with Lino. Beagling is also. an option. You might want to check the bore dia. on your 44 first to see what that is. LLS

It can be used, provided you obtain the correct diameter for your Blackhawk. However there are lots better designs out there in the same weight range. At least that's been my experience.

You need different mold for 44 mag as this mold is for the 44-40 as has been stated. Too light and small for the Blackhawk. The 429421 is a good all around one to shoot.

I wouldn't buy it for a 44 mag but if you have it you could give it a try. Mine cast a bit over .430" but the previous owner may have opened it up. Their is no crimp grove. They are meant to be seated over a compressed load of BP then crimped over the front band to hold them in while the powder holds the bullet from pushing into the case in the tube magazine rifle they were designed for. For a revolver which tries to jump the bullet out of the case this will work with smokeless powder loads. But in a tube magazine rifle you have a problem.

Your entire front band is inside the case so you've a jump to the throat.
