Just cast a few 44s with a batch of 50/50 WW/Pb and water dropped them. Any estimate on the hardness of these?

They are TL bullets so no GC. What's the max fps that you can push them using Lee Alox?

Always used #2 before with no leading and was curious about how 50/50 would perform in the Super Blackhawk.

Lots of info on this. In particular, try doing a search on what forum member "Babore" has found using 50/50.

My water dropped 50/50 are around 12 bhn. If the fit is good you should be able to push them pretty hard.

Size is the thing to watch out for when you go to a softer mix

Too big or too small?

50/50 is plenty hard for most purposed. I just cast some gas check rifle boolits with them. Like yours, mine are water dropped and they seem plenty hard. I plan on running them at 1650-1700 fps. I'm sure they will be fine.

To small and they won't seal as they rattle down the bore. They and are likely to lead and/or give poor accuracy.

Sized properly, they should not be a problem
