My brother picked up a RFI No1 Mk3 the other day. The bore is strong without pits and the metal finish is good but the stock is a mess. The thing has side grinder and DA sander markes all over and a layer of varnish or something as an excuse for a finish. There are very faint stampings that have been sanded over till I can't read them. It is lumpy with flat places, this can't be original.

I have worked with No4 rifles for years but know very little about the No1, especially the Indian rifles. Will a stock set for British No1 fit this rifle? He picked it up cheep and I think it is worth fixing. He really likes the 303 Brit. and does most of his hunting with one, he would like to put this one back in service.

Thanks

Yes, The British replacement wood will fit.
I redid an Ishapore. The wood fell right into it.
The only difference is the rear butt stock. The #2Mk2A wood is angled slightly different than the #1MKIII. Other than that, I did not notice any difference other than the British wood has a better fit than the Indian. The forearm is thicker than the Indian.
Should drop right in.
