I picked up a set of new 30-40 dies cheap from a dealer friend about a two months ago. So I've been keeping my eyes open for a decent shooter of some kind in 30-40.
I would have preferred a winchester 1895 SRC but the cheapest one of those I've found so far was about $2000.
Well today I was in my same dealer friends shop and he had an !898 Springfield that had been sporterized CHEAP . It also has a really nice bore. So as usual we came to an agreement . To make a long story short two guns were swapped and a small amount of money changed hands.
So now I have a 30-40 bolt to shoot cast bullets in :drinks:

Could this mean another mold or three ? MOST LIKELY :castmine:

I almost forgot this krag has a period Lyman peep sight which pretty much cemented the deal .
This rifle has deer rifle written all over it [smilie=1:

Nice job! I love the one I have. It is DCM cutdown with a redfield peep and a 12-18 RIA 4 groove barrel. Enjoy!!! moodyholler
