First try at casting. Im guessing my die is too cold?

yup... exactly what my first run looked like too..

cut down on that die warm-up time by putting the corner of the die into the melt in the top of the pot for a bit... when the lead no longer sticks to the die, it's ready..

Hey McGregor I see you found a new place to visit.

Wax or oil in the cavity can also give you the same wrinkled effect. Usually smoke pretty good too if you have that.:-D

ohh, i've been here for a bit.. just bought a new mold 430310 6-holer to reload my dad's super redhawk...

i've been casting the BoarBusters for my 45-70... free lead is good!

The boolit looks pretty shiney- mold is too cold or lead is too cold.
A new mold may take a little work such as cleaning to get it broken in. It looks like a Lee bullet so it will probably need a good cleaning in hot water.
Don't get fustrated if you don't get things right after a few attempts. Keep trying. Everything will fall into place. It probably takes a good 45 minutes before my pot (40lb'er) and mold get hot and I am really rolling along.
