I'm about spent on looking for a heavy bullet mold for my 41 Maggie. Has anyone used Mountian Molds? Are can they advise a different maker.

I've had them do three molds for me so far. Excellent work and normally pretty fast delivery. My first mold was delivered 5 days after I ordered it. One took 5 weeks. The bad news for you is Dan is in the process of moving all his stuff out to Idaho. He will not be resuming production until sometime in late summer. His design program will allow you to design your own mold. It does have some limitations in certain areas. This is mainly due to cutter restrictions. Dan will help you out, on his forum, but he will not design a bullet for you. Your best bet is to copy an existing design or bullet and then size it to your gun's throat(s).

I have two Mountain Molds and both are of very good quality and spot on to the specs I sent.

I have a brass and an aluminum Mountain Mold. Both are very well made with the brass mold being the cadillac in my stable of molds. I have a 230 gr secant flatpoint made up on the Mountain Mold program that is waiting for Dan to get back to work.

I have 4 or 5 of them. The quality has gotten better every time I have ordered. All have been right on. The only thing I have been unhappy with is the noses of one of them had a round tool marks. It has turned out to be one of my best shooters so I have been reluctant to send it back. Dan is always working on ways to improve his product.

I have one 325gr 45 GC. Easiest mould I have to cast from and produces the most accurate loads in my 45 Bisley. Alan Waples

I don't own but I've used a .411 265gr LFNGC MM. Good mold, no complaints. They shoot like a house a fire in my .41 BH.

Mountain Molds produce very good quality molds. I have three with a couple more to order when he resumes production again. His brass molds are by far my favoite. I have a 250 Grain gas check 41 mag mold he did for me and it worked out great. 73% meplate cast out of 50/50 ww and lino. Drops from the mould atb .412. If you woud lke totry a few Pm me.

I don't think I've ever used a better mold that the 3 I have from Dan at MM. If he thinks your design might have problems he will tell you before he makes it. He is a very busy man that produces an outstanding product and I don't think you can go wrong with one of his molds.

I would rate my 3 Mountain Mold tools as in the same class as NEI molds made by the late Walt Melander--every bit as good. These five molds are my favorites to use, by far. All are aluminum. I have at least 2 more molds waiting for Dan to get back up and running.

I have 27, yes 27 Mountain Molds. Why.... Dan makes pretty good mold. He also listens (mostly) to us shooters on ways to improve BOTH molds and bullets. Of all the molds in this shop I love make bullets from his molds. We hear from happy customers all the time of great accuracy and performance on game so buy some more from Dan.

I wanted a mould for the .32 Special to cast at 190 gr. and designed what I wanted on his progream - it works great. The other moulds available are either around 165 gr. or have the bullet a little too long, so it doesn't shoot too well in the 16" twist. My 190 gr. MM flat-nose GC works entirely to my satisfaction, and cast easily out of the brass blocks.
