I just got done slugging the bore as I have had less that great results shooting this thing ! .309x.303!!!! No wonder it wouldnt group worth a darn even at 50 yds. I was using a Lee 150fp .311x.301+ with no joy except at plinker speeds but still 3-4" 10 rd.groups at 50 yds. the only moulds I have that will fit that sewer pipe is a 311466 and a lee 155 spitzer.I have hopes for the 466 if I FP it but the nose band on it is only.299? Is there any hope for this thing besides jacketed bullets I had hopes of using it for deer this season with cast. I;d hate to need to buy a custom mould just for this one rifle and I know a new barrel is out of the budget. Whats the average cost of reboring ? Sure didnt have any problems like this with my 80+ yr old win.

Try NOE 311407...looks like he has a 3C left from the GB. Mine drops @.314x.3015/180gr.

Size it at different sizes, til you find what it likes. I have 2 friends
that have the same carbine about 1959-1964, one likes .309 and the othr likes .312.

Send SwedeNelson a PM.

Good Luck,
Jon

Tim, the beauty of the Loverin design is that it's nearly all groove diameter. It doesn't seem to give a care about nose support because it hasn't much nose. IIRC my stepson's MG 336 carbine slugs .302" X .309" and loves the 466. I have an old Rem. 141 in .30 Rem. with seven grooves, but not micro, that slugs .3020" X .3082". With a tang peep and small gold bead, 1.5" to 2" groups at 50 yd. and sub 3" groups at 100 yd. Try eight gr. of Green Dot (1350 fps) or fifteen gr. of 2400 (1750 fps) using no fillers. Bill
