Just came in from my local academy and they had some 16 and 20 quart dutch ovens on clearance. The 16 quart was $38.88, the 20 quart was $58.88 I think. I bought a 16, ought to hold a lot of metal.

16 quarts will be 378.544 lbs filled to the top. I hope that it is not an aluminum pot. It will take quite a heat source to melt that much bullet alloy.

Well it's new. A bit pricey for me.
I would have checked out some carport sales and goodwill first.
I got a 16 qt. oven for 2.00 at a carport sale.
A 1 qt. sauce pan for 2.00 at goodwill.
Both cast iron, both with lids

Nope, they're cast iron. I really wanted something in stainless, but didn't have any luck finding the size/shape I wanted for a decent price. It's doubtful I'll ever fill it to the top, but it will be nice to have the capacity if I need it. Lots better than the old 12" cast iron skillet that I've been using. Just need to figure out some sort of valve arrangement so I can make it a bottom pour.

I work weekends, so I can't get to the estate sales/garage sales/etc. to find anything.
