My 10 year old daughter has all of a sudden wanted me to start teaching her to shoot. So this afternoon we went out to the back yard range with a 22 bolt action and she shot her first rounds. Well she hit the target a target of 81/2 x 11 paper at 25 yards 8 out of 10 times and was really proud of herself. So was I...
Then the 13 year old who has been shooting doves at every chance and is starting into 4-h clay busters wanted to shoot blue rocks so out we go. Long story short he broke more clays than I did and I was using a 12 gauge and he was using a 20 gauge... I'll get the little rascal next time for sure.
All in all I had a great time and the offspring did too I think...Wes

Sounds like you all had a good time, the last couple of times I have been out with the youngest boy he gets bored pretty quick so I bought a Birchwood-Casey swinging target for the .22's.

lead1---My grandson would get bored shooting paper targets but an active target held his interest--golf balls for instance.

Adding to what Carpetman said the past thread will give more good ideas to keep young-uns interested...Ray

Sounds like a great day to me. Try sticking golf ball markers in a sheet of cardboard and shoot them through the cardboard. Lots of fun.

The future of shooting sports rests in the hands of the young today. It is important that we work with any kid that shows even a small interest in shooting.
