I'm new to bullet casting. Weeks ago I cast several bullets from a lee 358 mold and with almost pure lead. I tried to size them in a lee 358 sizer and they didn't seem to fill the sizer.

Today I cast the same bullet, same mold, from wheel weights and they seemed to be substantially larger and required some effort to size. Does the harder metal fill the mold better or just shrink less while cooling?

"Harder metals, bigger bullets?"

Yes, usually.

You need to visit here & do some reading. Alloy & temp. both affect final bullet diameter. http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletNotes.htm
