I just got back from the gun show here in Phoenix. Primers are pretty much back in stock. There were some quantity limits, but not bad. The worst was a 1,000 limit on large rifle. Something else was limited at 2,000 & something else was limited at 5,000. Large Pistol were unlimited. Components were available at more than 1 Miwall stand this time. When I got there around 11:00, the components line was only 2 people long. They had a fair selection of powders, but they were out of some of the pistol powders like 231, Bullseye & Unique. A pretty good selection of ammo was available. Wolf 7.62 x 39 was back down to $4.50/box for FMJ. 9mm Winchester was around $12. .45ACP was around $20. .38's were plentiful & cheap in large quantities. Commercial .223 FMJ brass case was no bargain at $8/box, but that's better than I've seen in a long time. Things aren't quite back to normal yet, but the panic seems to be over.

I ordered 5000 primers from wideners yesterday. They had them cheaper than the local gunshops here do.

"Back" must be different in Phoenix than it is between Richmond and Raleigh. Pre-bozo I only bought 2K to 5K several times a year to maintain a stock level. I'm not buying here at $46/K LR + Va. tax in Richmond. Pre-bozo they were often $25, and occasionally no tax.

Panic over? I see in the news today Kalifornee House & senate sent an unreal private ammo law to the guv. He's an elite one too, so he will sign. Looks like panic in the golden state to me. BvT

The nice thing besides the availability of primers and powder at the show was the gun prices also seemed to be dropping.
Didn't buy any components as I'm good until the end of the year but I did see some good buy on 8lb kegs of Unique.
I did buy a 2000 yard video spotting scope. I'm getting too old to be jogging 1000 yards down range to measure my groups :^)

I wish I knew you were going, Jim. I would have had you pick up a sleeve or two of Small rifle magnum primers for me for my mini 14. :(

At least it's good to hear they are back. :drinks:

I'll try to remember to give you a ring before the next time that I go. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go back tomorrow. When I left today, they did still have reasonable stock on hand. They had plenty of small rifle. I don't remember if they had small rifle magnum or not. Bricks of 1,000 were about $30-$35 depending on the variety.

I have been able to replace what I shoot and extra as well. Availability is trickling in. Now, if the prices would come down that would really be nice.

Bass Pro in my area has jack also. Sportsman's Warehouse & Cabellas seem to have occasional stock when I go in there, but I haven't been keeping careful track for the past month or two.

I was in Gander Mountain, very near Pittsburgh, Saturday Evening, they had primers, but limited to 300 primers per customer.

They also had powder, PLENTY of powder, even 8 lb Keg(s), as in plural, of Unique. I didn't check the price of the kegs, I knew that I wouldn't be able to afford them... Sigh...

Primers are also available on Gun Broker, however.

Gander Mountain in Huntsville, Al, got in 1 k of small pistol primers over the weekend.
$4.99 per hundred plus 8% sales tax. I bought 500 and left the rest for someone else. Don't get me wrong, I would have liked to bought all of them, but I don't believe in being greedy. [smilie=1: First primers that I have seen in Huntsville in over a year. The last I bought were $2.99 per hundred.

Cabelas W of Chicago on 90 had NO primers this morning. Some powder, but no Unique or 4895, the only 2 I wanted. I'm not out, but those are my low ones.

I went to the Mesquite gun show on sunday and saw a packet of 100 primers with an eight dollar price tag on them. That was the only primers that I saw at the show.

Joe thanks. We need more people like you that don't hoard and just buy what they need. It's good to know we still have good people out there.

There were some primers at the gun show this weekend but the prices were still too high at 40-45/1000. Ammo seemed to be available at high prices. 22lr was 25/sleeve.

I'm sure glad we don't have primer shortage here in Norway. Last Saturday, I bought 10K CCI SP primers at $42/K. The store had just got a pallet with 2 million primers.

But they didn't have any pistol gunpowder. I'd better buy some from my club.
