Cleared out a bit of a corner of the garage and set all this up.

(Yes I know the phone books, I know, I need to get an cider block)

Nice light and vent, and a worthwhile project. But why the phone books? Do you stand up to cast?

I do stand up. I find it easier to move around. Also the sprout is at eye level when I sit down on the stool.

I think the "cider" in the block may provide for some initeresting casting sessions - especially after it has time to "work" a little... :redneck:

Just a little :kidding:

One thing I did with my pot was to buy a cheap pizza pan and put it under the pot. It gives me a place to put down the hot mold once in a while without marking up the wooden bench. And it catches any little drips or pieces before they get to the floor.

Looks like a great setup for indoor casting.
Cider Blocks? I guess you have to freeze them first huh? But then they would melt under the heat from your furnace.

Nice setup. However, if you don't mind, I would suggest few improvements. First, make sure that ALL cracks on that hood are sealed. As for stand, I would suggest wood, bricks or concrete block. As for table, I would put (wooden) fence all way around, at least 2" high. In case you get a leak, molten lead wouldn't spill around, especially toward you. Just my 0.2 cents...

Onty- went around the hood w/ some sealant so that's done. :) I am looking for a cinder/concrete blocks, probably pick up pavers, foot square.. Haven't cast much since that setup was done, gotta remedy that.
