Cast my first batch with the new 6C mould. Took a couple of cleanings to get past the wrinkled bullets, then they turned out fine. Casting from WW +1% tin, air cooled, they weighed between 234.5 to 235.3 and cast out at 452-453, even around the part line, so fairly round. I'll size and shoot these next week but I expect they will be fine. Sure goes through 20# of alloy fast and likes it hot. Metal temp was 500-525* for the session.

Thanks to Matt for handling this group buy. :p

You're more than welcome. Glad to hear that you are happy with the mold.

Can't wait to try these out in the .45 Auto Rim revolver myself.:Fire:

When did the Pony Express rider leave St. louis heading west with my two moulds ?? :) :)

What is interesting is that the actual Pony Express delivery was just over eight days in 1860.
Modern USPS Priority Mail from Indiana took that same eight days just last month !

Ah, progress !

Thanks for riding this Group Buy through Matt ! It looks like a great bullet for 45AR ! :)

Not trying to nit-pick Jerry...but the Pony Express ran between St. Joseph, MO and Sacramento, CA.

Got my mould on Wednesday! [smilie=w:

Hope it casts as good as it looks. Hope to try it out in the next coupla days.

Thanks Dutch!

Didn't they drive across I-70 & then up 29 before they took off west ? ;) ;)

I think I cut American History 101 when they lectured on 1860 events ! :) :)

Nice batch ! :)

Bullets fell out of these moulds with a simple opening of the handles !

Thanks again Matt for pushing LEE on this one ! :)

A quick snap-shot of a 45-230CM ! :) Mould needs another cleaning and I am sure fill-out will be much better !

I fired up my mold today, my first batch measured .451-.453, .002 out of round, which is acceptable, and weight was right at 232 grains average. I was having a few fill-out problems, which once again is fairly typical (especially with a new mold), but with more heat and a few other "adjustments" fillout improved quite a bit. I beagled the second pot, and interestingly enough these measured .452-.453, only .001 OOR, hmmm......
I do wish these were a little fatter, but they'll do. As others have said, these six-bangers like to run hot, and this one is no exception. Release was good, pop 'er open and a couple of light taps and the mold is clear. I look forward to trying these in some 45 Colt loads, this RF design gives them a nice "authentic" look. I like the nice-sized lube groove, this should be a dandy. Thanks again Dutch for running this one!

What are people loading these with? My Star lube/sizer and I are working our way through a big batch I cast this fall.

Just under a year ! Order was placed with LEE by the honcho 10-07-08 and mine arrived on 9-14-09 !

Great bullet but FAR, FAR too long to wait on LEE to deliver ! :( :(

Perhaps NOE might run one !

Some preliminary testing with a modest charge of Blue Dot with this slug has produced spectacular results for me from my 1858 Remmy conversion carbine! A magic bullet for this gun/load combination--one of the best I have found yet! Yeehaw!

I would definitely buy a five cavity from NOE. Anyone else interested?
