What is there to say?

10 shots, one hole.

Yeah, really ugly crown job but we had to do it in a hurry and with the receiver attached I couldn't run it more than 30 rpm in the 15" 100 yr old lathe. So the crown is sharp but rough machining.

But the front sight.. I was having trouble seeing the brass bead on the black target. And its too high for the Marble's tang sight. I need a lower front sight and will probably shorten the barrel enough to eliminate that ramp and cut a new crown and dovetail for a finer front sight mounted on the barrel.

Wasn't a good day for brass.. This is Buffalo Arms brass made from .45-70. It should've been annealed before it was ever loaded when new but I don't know if it was. The process they use to draw out the case length leaves it very work hardened. I'm not real happy with this.

Yeah, I've told you how to get brass that won't split with mid-range loads like this but you wouldn't listen to me, remember?

Are we speaking of the 8x56R?

I may eat some crow on that one and after today would you please pass the salt?

Good shootin' and a nice hunka wood there. I've heard the BA brass is crap, most all of it they reform anyway. You'd think they'd anneal it for the price they get.

I have a bunch of the BA brass and have had no problem with it. I have annealed it but don't remember if I did before the first loading. I still have the full compliment that I bought.
I used the Lee 8mm custom mould weighing in at 235gr. and SR 4759. It shot good but not that good.
I tried to dovetail the ramp that came on it and the solder didn't hold so I ended up dovetailing the barrel. Good thing because the tang sight that I installed is way up high even with the sight in the barrel.
Where did you get the stock for your rifle? I am in the process of rebarreling mine to a 40 cal hunting gun. Probably a 40-50SS, although I own a 40-65 reamer which is the other possibility.

Yes, that's what I mean. 10 firings at Krag pressures before any cracks, splits or damage of any type on my 5 unit sample.
If it's stupid and it works...

I have a Custom NEI Mould that throws a .327" 193 grain slug with no GC groove. I fire-form Graf 8x56R brass and load the cast bullet into those, and I also have a bunch of sniper-grade 196 grain bullets I have pulled from surplus ammo that I will load about .30 Krag speed.

But my gun isn't nearly as pretty as Dutch's.
