M95M. Straight pull Steyr but not the usual 8X50R or 8X56R... reworked to take 8X57 mauser. Store had it marked $159 thinking it was a regular 8X56 carbine when in fact it is worth double that.

The extractor is intact, a weak part on these. Not weak per se, but if you single chamber a round, being rimless, it is prone to cracking.

It is missing the internal clip, but I think I can modify a standard 8X56 clip to work. Or even just bend a piece of sheet metal to shape. It is only there to keep the rounds aligned in the rather deep and wide 95 mag.

Will have it out next week with my standard start load of a Lee 175 gr bullet and 11 gr Red Dot.

No internal clip. You load the ammo in the clip and when the last cart goes into the chamber the clip drops out the bottom. It's going to take some mods as the 8 Mauser is a smaller based rimless round. The standard 8x50 or 56 is rimmed. Likr a 7.62 x 54R

Mark,

No, there most assuradly is (was) an internal clip. The 95/24 and M.95M both feature a piece of molded sheet steel screwed over the bottom of the mag well to prevent the clip falling out, or else a completely new mag housing, as well as a modified internal clip that was meant not to come out, as shown in the following diagram and pics. Shown are side by sides of the 95 and 95 M mags and clips.

I stand corrected then. the M on the end must mean modified.
