With lead wheel weights being phased out, I have been looking for alternative sources of lead. My question is, when you can buy shot at $25 for 25 pounds, why is bulk alloy almost $2 a pound? Shouldn't it be under a dollar a pound? Where do the shot makers get their lead so cheap that we can't get it that cheap too?

You can get it cheap too. Buy 100 tons at a time.

Happy...all depends what you want. You can buy lead from us for .90/lb which is essentially 2% antimony and 98% lead which is the same as shot...so it's actually cheaper than shot.

If you want Lyman #2 with 5% tin and 5% Antimony, that is a completely different animal. We just got our first batch from the Foundry today at $2.20 lb. Tin is $7.75/lb and Antimony is about half that, plus the foundry charges to formulate it. That all adds up to more money...a little over twice as expensive. If you want some ingot cheap, give us a look.
