lil gun loading data.

Well bought a pound of LIL Gun powder today cause there was no H110 available, problem is I have no loading data for it.... little help for some loads please. I know I have seen a lot of people here using it so it must be good...right!

.44mag, I have 240gr, 200, and 310gr bullets

.357mag I have 158gr bullets

.45/70 well I don't have any bullets at this time but will probably be buyin a Lee 340 and 405gr mold

Been a long time since I've done any real quantity reloading so all of my reloading manuals are kinda model T's.

Hogdons web has data for the 44 and 357.

Hogdons does not recommend lilgun for use in rifle cartridges.

That worked for me, thanks. Can't see why it wouldn't work in rifles, I will see what happens.

It won't work for rifles because its very similar to 110, it needs to be loaded to 90% load density, and that would be an overpressure in most if not all rifle cartridges.
My pick for "best" cast bullet powder in the 45-70 (if it must be smokeless) is AA5744.
I got fair results with lilgun in the 357 ( lots of speed) , good accuracy in the 45 colt, and not so good accuracy or impressive velocity from the 41 and 44 mag.

Ok I am really going to show my 'dumb' what powders are being used in .357 and .44 mag rifles? Guess I have pound of lil gun that will be sitting if it isn't going to work for a rifle, cause what I want is something that will work in my rifles and revolvers.
New question then, what powders are workable for both????????

I have a winchester 94 in 360 DW (think longer 357mag) and it LOVES Lilgun.

15gr of lilgun and the 158gr booit in it is a nice combo, although I prefer the 180gr with 15gr of lilgun.

I don't like Lilgun in a pistol of 357 mag, because after one cylinder full the pistol is HOT and I mean really HOT.

With those cartridges it won't matter whether you use the loads in pistol or rifle, what matters is case capacity. Those two cartridges are handgun cartridges so the only difference you'll find is the bullet goes faster due to the longer rifle barrel.
Just use the handgun data you'll be fine.

I haven't tried the lil gun myself but I've seen the listings for loads and velocities and it outperforms H110. I don't know how it compares to H110 for accuracy - but people seem to be happy with it.

I just bought a Marlin 1894 in 357 and a Ruger SP101. I'm bobbling between getting a pound of lil gun or IMR 4756 if I can find more data for that powder. Will be using it under a Lyman 358-156.

Lilgun should work good in your Marlin, won't be worth a flip in the 101, would be better off with unique or bluedot in that short barrel.
