One of my computer buddies was nice enough:bigsmyl2:to name my 50/90 for me because it's got a 1-22 ROT instead of a 1-34 or 1-36 so by golly...that name has stuck!! Yesterday I tested a new bullet mould from KAL Tool & Die which is a nose pour adjustable type paper patch with a cupped base of around .080" in depth and a flat meplat measuring .180" in width. Bullet I was shooting was cast at a weight of 685 grs. using 1-20 alloy. Naked bullet OD as cast is .494". I wet patch and wrapped OD is at .501". Load was 114 grs. Swiss 1F compressed .183", WLR primer, .250" Black Magic lube cookie, BELL brass, and a .060" Walters veggie wad top to bottom. Cases were annealed. I FL resize all brass and run the loaded round through a taper crimp die to very lightly snug it into the case mouth. I fired 11 rounds yesterday afternoon....first sighter hit slightly off the 10 ring plate at 1 o/clock and the rest impacted pretty much where called. I had a slight wind change and let one leak out on me at around 4:30. I've got moulds from Paul Jones out California way and Steve Brooks up in Wyoming and both are great mould makers but 'Ole Rick' up at KAL is right in there with the best of 'em in my opinion! Excellent workmanship on the moulds I've received from him and the bullets are proving to be very accurate! Not a high X count here but I'll take a 99 most anyday from 800 yards!

My next test will be from 1000 yds. with a 720 grainer from this same mould. One great thing about shooting steel is....yesterday after I fired each round I'd lift my ear muffs up and when those slugs hit the plate it sounded like someone was hitting a plate right beside me with a 40# maul!!:shock:

Who cares ! I'll save my typing effort for those that shoot SP and PP cast bullets the way they were NOT originally intended to be shot.....in magazine -fed, bolt-action rifles of the
early 20th century period! [smilie=s:

Don't blame you at all! I wouldn't care either...if I had to shoot one of those 'magazine-fed, bolt-action rifles' of the early 20th century period![smilie=s::takinWiz:

I was just going through your album and watched your video.
Some time you might put the camera down range and record when the lead hits the plate for those that never shot steel with these big bores..
Good picture of the three guys sitting on the porch:drinks:

I've thought of that BUT.....there's a problem! Posting a video is a real PITA even though I have a PC here that will launch missiles!! Photobucket limits video size to 300MB and 10 minutes; the 10 minutes is plenty of time but....I've kept some stuff below that trying to get it posted and for some reason it still won't load for me. Supposedly I've got the latest software available for doing this but I still can't get things to work right so to be able to post!! I worked for 3 days getting the video of me shooting prone posted and for the life of me...I can't recall how I did it!! As for shooting the steel.....lot better for me than shooting paper because from 1000 yds. through the spotting scope I can see all of my impacts whether in the black or on the white mainframe; can't do that with paper!! The really neat thing is..that after I fire a shot...I can roll over and look through the scope and watch the impact!!:razz:

I can't wait for the weather to cool so that I can come that way. Not sure about the post by bcp 427. Don't know if he was being a smart alec or trying to be funny. What's the push like on the Bastard? Later David

Not bad at all in my opinion....but to hear some folks gripe about it.....to them it must be akin to holding your shoulder against the loading block of a 105MM field piece!![smilie=l::p

cajun shooter, bcp477's post is a joking response to a joke FPMIII made on another thread!
You must have missed it.

To get a better presective of the recoil, take your favorite hunting rifle, lay on your back, place the buttstock against your nuts and pull the trigger. Divide the "Pain" by 50.................well.......it'll be close.
