I've been reading about the Lee 358 75gr wc mold that was recently purchased in the group buy section. I think I would like to have one of those and I'm way too impatient to wait for one and way too cheap to have one made. What would be wrong with buying a Lee 358 148gr wc and shaving it down with a mill? My neighbor has a mill so that part would be free. Any input would be appreciated. Later Don

realistically,, I think it is a valid idea. As long as the machinist can re-install the sprue plate correctly it should be ok.

.............I flycut a Lee TL 358-148 down to produce an 88gr WC. But since it had a wider band at both ends, so you could still have one to seat first into the case. A regular WC mould could be similarly done, but about as far as you could go would be to eliminate one drive band and one lube groove.

I cut down a Lee 6 cavity 175gr. .40 cal mold so it cast a 150 gr. TC bullet worked well.

Does anybody reccomend a machinest to shave down an aluminum Rapine mold. I got it from another "person" that thinned the diameter down to .325" that is fine but the boolit weighs over the 215 gr. weight I don`t want?Robert
