Why does Lee only sell the .457 sizer dies. Most of what i have read take a .458 or .459 size boolit? what do you guys do, ream your push thru a .001 or so.

Who knows why? They just do. It'd be nice if they added a few more sizes. Buckshot will make you any size you want at a reasonable price and fairly quick too!

+1 on Buckshot's dies. I got a .460 from him. Nice work, good price twenty couple dollars depending on shipping) and great workmanship and I got it in about a week.

I have Lee sizing dies and can't complain about them...but I can't see buying any more when I can get exactly what I want for less than 5 bucks more.

I would buy from Buckshot, of course. Still that question hangs in my mind. .457 must be the generic "size all" for the 45-70

snagdit posted about how he "enlarged" his lee sizers, and i followed what he did. works very well. basicly, you simply coat 15 +- bullets with fine valve lapping compound, and push them through. it opens the sizer right up. just check periodicly, so you do not oversize the die to far. also, keep the amount of valve compound down, as to much will end up on the ram of your press (through the depriming hole), and you will end up having to disassemble the press to clean it out. want to know how i know that one?!?! DOPE!

What push thru sizer die do you need to seat a gas check on a .459 boolit? Will a .460 push thru sizer be too big?

I split a aluminum rod with a hacksaw and used a piece of emery cloth on it to lap out a .457 Lee, I then finished it to mirror smooth with a rubber dremel tool polisher with red polishing compound . Sizes Ranchdog bullets to .4605, seats gaschecks just fine. :-)
