I have a nice little Rem 722 chambered for 300 Sav. I have been shooting it all summer with 311291 WW over 16 grns of 2400, with great success. 100 yard accuracy about 2.5 to 3 inches. I plan to hunt with this gun this fall and just recieved the 311 165RD. I decided to slug the bore to see if I needed to order a different sizer to get a really good fit so I could bump up the velocity. I have been sizing to .309. What I found was a bore that miked .3075. I wondered if I had a tight spot, so I ran one in to about 4 inch from the muzzle and then back out. Same dia. Questions; is this a common bore size? Do I need to get a smaller sizing die?

I do an slug of the forcing cone areas and size to that measurement as long as it is bigger than barrel AND it chambers freely. I'll bet $3. that your .309 will work well for you.

Thanks, for the input. The .309 has been working well, I wonder if something else will work better. I misspoke in my orginal question. The bore size is not .3075, the groove is.

I have a 721 in .30-'06, which is the most accurate cast boolit shooter I own. It shoots great groups with everything I have ever put through it. I'm afraid to slug it, like the guy who patterned his pet scattergun, and then could never hit anything with it again.
