Hi i came across a Mauser-werke a.d. oberndorf a.n. modell HSc, first thing i did was field strip the gun, first of all the darn thing still had a round in the chamber!!!, good thing i know my gun safety, the round was a .380. any ways while cleaning the barrel i noticed some marking on the barrel, it said 9mm and under that it sayed .38, so is the gun 9mm or .38 or .380? i know it is not a 9mm parabellum, way to big of round.

Mine is a 380 Auto, aka 9mm Kurtz (9 short) in the old country.

I just got one, a 7.65, they were also made in .380, like Trapshooter said.

Renato Gamba also produced HsC pistols under license from Mauser in 9x18 Ultra. These rarely surface in the US and are quite a prize amongst collectors if you happen to find one.

AFAIK, German .380's shouldn't be marked simply "9mm" as .380's from some other European countries are occasionally found.
The German .380 designation should be stamped "9mm Kurtz, or possibly "9mmK".

Another .380 designation, mostly from Mediterranean countries, is "9mm Corto"

All of which translates to "9mm Short"
