............Looks good! I make them also :-) They're actually 1-1/4 x 12 tpi.

They're all the same on the outside, as your's probably are also. This one is for a Star. Ah ................maybe that's a bit obvious. The knurled part is the top. Internal 'O' ring keeps the die from self ejecting:drinks:

Whatcha see looking down from the top, in the left photo. If you were the boolit you'd see this[smilie=l:

That looks pretty straightforward. Tell me about the threaded retaining nut at the bottom? What did you use or how did you make it?

Now if one of you inventive fellows could make one to use the neck sizer buttons for nose sizing. A stop and some sort of punch to push it back down would need to be designed.
I think this would work better with the base of the bullet setting flat with the pin on the ram. rather than putting it in the luber adn puttting the bullet in upside down.

Buckshot has made noze sizing dies to several designs. His best is for all in the world, a Lyman or RCBS die with no holes for bullet lube. You use a flat nose punch to push on the base and the bottom punch is shapped to take the bullet nose. You can adjust the machine for the depth and of course use it to knock the bullet out of the die. Works to pefection.

Maybe a dumb question but...
Is it possible to make something similar but in 7/8" X 14 (standard reloading die threads) that would accept Lyman or RCBS bullet sizing dies?
I'm looking for a nose first alternative to a lub sizer for .258 diameter and don't have a ccess to a lathe. I prefer to pan lube. Suggestions?

Dusty, That sounds too easy to believe. A threaded tube - outside 7/8X14, inside to fit Lyman and RCBS sizer dies - with a shoulder at the depth of the length of an RCBS or lyman die. Use the o-ring on the die to retain the die from falling out. Push out from the top to change dies. One of those ideas that makes you say "why didn't anyone think of that sooner." Possible fly in ointment - sleeve might be too thin, needs to be measured. If too thin - position die below press threads????

Dusty, I have made the die you are asking about. I used an old seating die [7/8x14 bolt or all-thread would also work] which I bored out to accept Lyman/RCBS sizers. After the die is screwed into my press a sizer die is inserted into the bottom of the die. The sizer is retained in the die by a die nut which has a washer welded to it with a 1/2 in. hole. A pusher rod must also be made to push the boolit thru the sizer. The push rod fits into the press ram like a shell holder. The sizer is a loose fit in the die so it can self center to the push rod.
I have also made a similar set-up which uses Redding neck sizing bushings which are available from .185 to .368 in. in Dia.

How about a sizer that uses standard neck size bushings?

Dusty Wheeler,
If you go to the bottom of the page, click on the box that says "Castpics". On the left side of the page there will be a list of catagories, click "Members Articles". Look in the right column for "Nose First Sizing. This will tell you how to make a adaptor that uses Lyman and RCBS sizer dies and fits your regular press.
I made one about 3 months ago and have been using it quite alot with no problems yet. Just thought you would like to know.
