Here is my redneck mauser scout rifle. The rifle is a VZ-24 that had been seriously violated by the previous owner, the rear reciever ring had been ground down to fit those stupid see through scope mounts, so I didn't feel to bad for bastardizing it some more. I had a weaver mount for a S&W 41 that matched the barrel radius well enough. A little loctite epoxy and we gots a scout mount.

If that epoxy does not hold like that what I did was use the same type of mount I think mine was for a Remington 742, only I drilled and and tapped a 3/4 section of pipe after it was cleaned up and blued then fit the whole thing over the barrel where the old rear sight went. I then used epoxy to epoxy in place with some thin aluminum stock to take up some of the space. Of course I had to make a space in the stock for the tube to fit ( Pipe) and then used glass bedding to get a perfect fit for it in the stock. Mine is on a Swede and it works perfect. Shot a nice doe with it this fall.

This one has the base d&t'ed instead of epoxied. It usually wears an Aimpoint, but I had it on another rig when I shot this photo. The rifle is a 1916 Oberndorf that Bubba got to before I did.

The slip on doesn't actually cover the rifle stock. I have 4 inches of red oak extension screwed into the butt, the slip on covers this and about a 1/4 inch of the actual stock.

Bout time you joined up, dad. I think it was one of mister isaacs associates that took the grinder to the rear reciever ring. you did a nice job drillin and tappin the holes for the reciever sight.

Is that thing epoxied mount to barrel? No crevices to give places for the epoxy to bite?

there are 4 drilled and tapped holes on the barrel. I also roughed it up with emory cloth. I epoxied two 1/4-20 bolt heads together and tried to break them apart as a test. I bent the bolts, they are still stuck together. Loctite makes some good stuff.
