Bonjour,
Long story cut very short, guy moving to away, selling all his shooting related stuff.

I've just bought a box of 3000 coppercoated 45acp bullets. :Fire:
They have been sitting in a box waiting to be loaded for several years. Badly stained and dull.

How do you clean them?

Merci,
fusil

Not sure but know of no reason why a vibratory case cleaner wouldn't work just fine. Particularly if treated with some Brasso or similar metal polish.

the boss (wife) say's....

Vinegar and Salt. Boil item in a pot of water with 1 tablespoon salt and 1 cup white vinegar for several hours. Wash with soap in hot water. Rinse and dry.

I'll report back soon.

I believe she has a good (if labor intensive) idea. Please tell her Merci for me.

Are those bullets copper clad or copper jacketed? (Plated/coated with copper vs having a jacket made from copper sheet?)

Copper jacketed can be cleaned as the previous posts suggest - chemicals, tumbling, etc.

Copper clad may pose a different problem. If they were clad bullets and stained but not corroded I would just wipe them off and shoot them.

In a tumbler, just tumble like brass.

Bonjour tout le monde,
tried another method.
White vinegar and a hand full of salt. Swirl about in a plastic dish for a few min's. And all the crap fell off.[smilie=w:

I put them in the tumbler for 30 min's and they look like new.

I paid €20 for 2700 bullets. Thats a rough gues as I only wieghed them and did the math. :Fire:

The boss asked if it was worth it?!?!? I think YES!!

Have a great weekend at the range.[smilie=s:

20 euros = about 28 USD

Yes, a good bargain I would say.
