This is a rifle I've had for many years, but don't shoot a lot. Decided to get it out and do some offhand practice, which decided me to change the scope. Didn't like the Bushnell on it but had gotten an old K4 Weaver with post reticle, so put that on and re-sighted in. So, getting to the point of this post: Got a nice group of 2 3/16" at 100 yds. with the SAECO RG6 bullet, a 100gr. GC with pencil point, and 14.0 gr. 4227. Five nice round holes in the group - only trouble was I fired six shots. I found the other shot in the backer, eight inches right, and keyholed at least 45 degrees. I figure a bullet with a void in it, or something.
Then I took out some jacketed loads, and fired a 5-shot group of 1 1/2", which struck 10" high and 2" right from the CB load. This rifle always was a tack-driver for a lever gun. Just to show how often I shoot jacketed bullets, the load data showed 100 gr. Sierra bullets, 45.0 gr. surplus 4831 powder, and Alcan Maxfire primers. Loaded these in October 1969, so they are coming up on their 40th anniversary in the box.

Love the 99's. That's decent shooting for a first load with the 243. Give it a little tweaking and it might well tighten up. I find anything south of 25 cal hard to cast well, but I haven't put a lot of time into it either.

Don't neglect 2400 in the 243. I start @ 12 gr and go to 14 with the RCBS 95 gr boolit.

You guys make me jealous. I foolishly traded my .243 BLR for a shotgun quite a few years back, living in Ohio where it is hard to get much use out of a centerfire rifle. Wish I had it back. Still have some ammo, and I am thinking of maybe a .243 HandiRifle as a low cost deer getter.
