I own a buckshot and a slug mold that are having trouble dropping the slug/shot out of them after I cast. I am using Lyman #2. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you smoke the molds?

Are you letting your molds get too warm?

As the heat transfers from the alloy to the mold after filling, the alloy should shrink a bit and the mold expand a bit. However, if your mold is too hot to begin with, you won't get as much of a differential.

you got either a burr or a mold cut slightly off center.
why a #2 mix for a slug?

Use pure lead, it will shrink more as the metal cools in the mould. Lee Key Drive slug moulds require pure.
