Bought a M47 Madsen rifle new, never issued, back in 60s. Anyone know what this Danish made military rifle in 30-06 made for Columbia but never delivered in early 50s sells for these days.

Huffmanite .... I have one that was issued to the Columbian Navy & appears to be only shelf worn. Almost like a new rifle. Picked it up a couple of years ago for $275.00, but now they start at around $300.00 & will go well over $400.00 for a nice one. I have fired mine in our local Military Bolt Action Bench Rest matches & it is cabable of the same type groups as the '03 or the Mod. 1917. In other words it's very accurate. It's much easier to shoot as far as it's sighting system is concerned & takes a nice trigger job. My load is the Lyman #311335 @ 205 grains in WW with 19.1 grains of Surplus 4759 powder, neck sized Remington cases & Remington 9 1/2 primers for right at 1600 fps (chronographed). By the way, the black paint that you see in several places on the firearm is supposed to be there. Easy to keep it looking nice.

I paid around $275 for one 2 years ago. I think I have fired maybe 40 rounds thru mine. Seems to be nicely made. Mark

:-D Thanks for replies on potential value. Us Madsen owners seem to be a minority of sorts. Until recently my Madsen and other rifles had been in closet, unfired for over 30 years. Took Madsen to a local rifle range recently and had a few other shooters there ask me what it was. They sure did admire it. No shooting for 30 years makes a guy pretty rusty at it, but after a few rounds I got the hang of shooting again and didn't embarrass myself. Of course, having an accurate rifle like the Madsen helped.
