I did a search for loads for the 358 Win but didn't find much for bullets in the 250-260gr range. I just got my new Mountain mold in and I got a few slugs poured and I'm ready to work up some loads. Anybody work with loads in this weight range. What powders work well for velocities for hunting deer. I want to push these above gallery levels if possible. Any advice would be appreciated.

Some information offered, but not as much as I'd have liked to have seen.

I have 2 Shilen barreled .358's I shoot the 245gr. Saeco bullet a lot, and the powders that have shown the best accuracy so far are Varget, 3031, and IMR4350. I used starting loads for the 250 grain jacketed bullet and worked from there. I run that bullet around 2100 to 2200 fps, in both rifles and get good accuracy and no leading with water dropped wheelweights.

Far and away my best accuracy combination in my M77 Hawkeye .358 Win has been 38.0 gns of H4895 propelling a Saeco #352 (3:1 ww:lino) @ 2,010 fps. What rifle will you be using?

The rifle is a custom Mauser 98 with 24" Douglas Premium barrel. The bullet is detailed in a post I made over in the "Mold - Maintainance & Design" section.

The information you gentlemen have posted is just what I'm looking for.
Gives me a good place to start. Thanks a lot.

That's a fine looking bullet. Let us know how it does at the range.
