Hey guys..Lately I have had a hankerin for a 357 lever..I just got a lead on a NIB Winchester 94 AE 16" Trapper for $400..With the discontinuation of the 94, is this a fair price? The guy will not budge.

thanks for the advice fellas

I had one years ago, when they first came out. I used it for Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) paid $235. We did a lot of shooting. As I got faster my Trapper jammed alot--- a whole lot. I traded it and got a Marlin 1894cl in 357. Marlin is trouble free and has a MUCH better trigger- easier to hit targets. Go to the SASS forum and ask folks about their Win 94's in 357. The !894 action was designed for longer 30-30 class cartridges and works OK with the 45 colt and 44 mag-but the 357 has a bad track record. It is your money- but for $400 I would buy the Marlin.

Here's some better ideas (I think):

These are all updated copies of the '92 Winchester, much better for pistol cartridges than the Model 1894. Available in other calibers, too.

Hope you bought the Winchester, as they are getting pretty non existent. Prices are going up dramaticly. $400 is a steal now as they are listing over $700.

I'm glad I got my 16"1894-1994 AE 100 year anniversary in 45 colt. What an awesome shooter.
