I was given a large amount of the following mixture.
Bismuth 50%
Cadmium 10%
Lead 26%
Tin 13.3 %
Does anyone know if this can be used to make cast bullets?

Cadmium is poison, worse than lead I understand. Proceed with caution it's a high carcinogen.
http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/cadmium/index.html read all of this....seriously!

Sounds like the melting temperature is going to be very low because of the cadmium. The bismuth will make the boolits grow. I do not know how hard the boolits will come out. At any rate, I would not shoot that boolit without some sort of an ablator, like shotgun filler, and wind going from the back to the target. ... felix

An email was sent to this website asking. They said NO . Low melting point and holding diameter might be a problem. Bismuth fouling, what gets that out of the barrel? http://www.alchemycastings.com/lead-products/fusible.htm

Cadmium is poison. Many of the solder or brazing materials MFG's have eliminated it.
Precious metal solders MFG's have been eliminating it as well.

Thanks for all the replies and links.
I will say "no" to Cadmium.
Thanks

bismuth is a good hardener for lead but the cadmium would kinda worry me.
i would add it so the bismuth content was around 1% so the cadmium number was very low.

That sounds like a babbit of some type. You might be able to trade it off if you can determine what it's for.
