I picked up about 20 bars of solider today and am not sure what it is. Wondering if any of you might know by chance.
It says "FRY" on one side and is stamped "27SN 6ZN L 0007" on the other side.
One freind thought maybe the Z was for Zinc? But after he looked at it he was pretty sure it was 60/40 or 70/30.

Any ideas?
Price was right so I bought it, what the heck.

27 Tin and 63 Lead, a good source of Tin, a pound bar will take care of 27 pounds of ww's the way I blend alloy.

Jeff, Sn is the symbol for Tin (from the Latin stannum, I think), Zn is the symbol for zinc. L is not the symbol for anything in the periodic table of elements.

fourarmed--is L not the symbol for anything on the periodic table so that one could ask "what the L is that stuff?"

I calculate 27 tin and 73 lead, close enough to 70/30. (subject to correction, I was educated in California.)

With luck this is the company; ask them, I believe they produce alloys containing zinc as well:
