I have a buddy that has a No.1 MK3 and the bolt body cracked. The bolt face/head is fine. He has found the bodies on Gunbroke and also I believe Numrich has them. Can he still use the same bolt face/head on the new bolt body?:Fire:

Possibly. If he is lucky.
If not, he can get a new bolt face, and headspace from there

It may or may not be the correct one. IIRC they came numbered between 1 and 3. This made changing head space easier. If it is not the right one you'll just have to change the bolt head to make it right. Either way you will need a head space gauge to ensure the correct one.

The bolt face is good. It is the body that cracked. Headspace wasn't bad before.

Get a bolt, screw in the bolt face, and measure it.
Measure also, the firing pin if it works out.

No1's didn;t come with the numbered bolt heads the No4's did. But like others said you will have to check the headspace.

The bolts can vary, check the headspace to be sure. I believe bolt face of the No 1 was stoned to the proper specs. The timing is also important, the bolt head should screw in far enough to work but not overturn.

You can get longer bolt bodies and bolt heads,it is a very simple job to do but I would set it up on headspace gauges to the cases that you are using eg buy 100 remington cases and set the HS to them, they shoot alot better that way. Pat

If memory serves Scotch Magic Tape is 0.002" thick, use it on new cases to check the headspace.
