well with a little Leementing and some Bac lube i finally got my Lee 405 grain hollow base bullet to shoot in my Pedersoli Rolling Block. 11 grains of Unique behind the 405 HB using Bac lube. target was only 50 yds. away but shows much promise.

Nice group Rick,

I have an older Pedersoli that resembles yours. Brass trigger guard and buttplate, when did you get yours? I tried smokeless in mine but went to black powder and have never looked back. Lots of data out there on reloading black. It is a lot of fun and I recommend yougive it a try.

Keep shooting, it's fun.

Rick459, nice shooting, good group.
StrawHat, I think I have the same Rolling Block.
It has a quite short octagon barrel with brass trigger and buttplate. Mine is 45-70 too.
I just recently got it as a present from my wife.

I looked around and found a document with the manufacturing years listed by serial number and found mine was built in the 80ies.
If you are interested I can try to put the pdf up here.

Info and reloading help is much appreciated, unfortunately no BP for me, as of now.

Yep, I got mine around then also. Two of them actually, one with the 26" half round barrel and another with an 18" full octagon barrel. On sale from Navy Arms, if I remember it right, and cheap at twice the price!

I too have the same rifle, in the 26" version. I puta different tang sight on, and a Lyman 17-A front. I have a bunch of those 405 HB's cast, but haven't loaded any yet. Now I have to give them a try!

To those of you who have these rifles; is your trigger ungodly heavy? Were you able to do anything about it?

Farmall,
the trigger is heavy but not like when i first owned the rifle. the hammer uses a flat main spring. trying to figure out if i can some how figure a way to use a coil spring. i'm starting to feel a little creep in the trigger so some trigger work is in order will let you know how i resolve mine. my RB has a 30" barrel on it.

I'd have to say that, after my bad eyesight, that trigger is handicapping me the most. Let me know how you fare.
Thanks.
