Looking for an easy fix for a dirty sling on my k-31. Intact, but grubby. TIA.

GEt some saddle soap. follow the instructions. Then, Lexol, or any good shoe dressing will put it right back to new, or better.

Also unscented vaseline. Smear it on heavy and work it back out and it will bring the krud with it.

Found some oil by feiblings. Not sure of the spelling. Tried it out on my K-31 sling.
Worked it in and used a rag to work out the crud. My hand were black after. Softened and cleaned up ok. Frank

I'm surprised none of you fellows didn't mention good ole Neatsfoot Oil. Great stuff.

I have been told too heavy of an application of neatsfoot will weaken the leather. I really don't know as the only thing I have that was regularly neatsfooted is a rifle sling that belonged to my father in law and it is still working after 58 years.
I am currently using Hubard's Shoe Grease, which is like a neatsfoot and vaseline mix. The vaseline trick was given to me by a fellow on the Swiss rifle board and it seems to work real well.

Another downside of neetsfoot oil is, it will rot stitching.
