Can anyone recommed a mold for the 454 Casull? I have some LFN's, but they have to be seated pretty deep to get the round to cycle. Seems that a round flat nose would be the best and it definitely needs a gas check.

You might try the Lee 452/300RF. It is a gas check design and feeds fine in my .45LC Puma.

i would have at least 2 or more molds for a 454 to take advantage of its potential.
something in 200 250 and 300 [or even heavier] for the applications it would see.
in my 45 colt i use from 160 to 265 for paper grouse rabbits deer etc,and match weights up accordingly,, with an everyday load with a 250 rnfp at 1400 fps muzzle.

I was at the range with my Puma 45 Colt and had the same boolit and was crnoing some at just about that speed when a fellow who was shooting next to me said " you had better quit shooting those loads as that is 500 FPS over loaded" Well I tried to tell him it was a rifle and had a 24" barrel and you could load them hotter than a SAA. He stomped off with his stuff and said " I am going to report you and get you barred" well I haven't seen him or been barred so I guess I am safe for the time being.

My favorites are the Lee 300 that curator recommended and the Lyman 452651. Both have two crimp grooves for deep seating if desired, and in my Puma .454 it is required. The Lee weighs 325 grs. ready to load in my alloy, and the Lyman runs 335 grs.

Care to share your reloading recipe for the Lee 452300 the associated velocity?

Best combination of velocity and grouping in my rifle is with 28 grs. of Hodgdon Lil'Gun and CCI 400 primer for 1900 fps. average. All disclaimers apply, this is a heavy load, work up carefully.

Another somewhat milder load is 26 grs. WC820 and a CCI 450 primer for 1820 fps. average.
