Here is last years moose.

I named this moose " Tiny" ! There were actually two bull moose there that day. The 1st came right out of the woods, breaking branches, and grunting. It was a long shot and I was shaking too much. After I calmed down I got the cow call and twice in 20 minutes. This bull popped out into the meadow over a 1/2 mile away, looked in our direction, crossed the pond in between us, and walked down the treeline to us. At 80 yards the moose stopped and I shot. He took two steps and fell over. Then the work started.

IvantheRussian----My dad had a 721 Rem 30-06 about same year as yours and it wore a Weaver K-4 most of it's life---now has an older Redfield on it. I gave it to a son in law and he has taken some mule deer, antelope and an elk with it. My dad took a bunch of mule deer and whitetails with it.

The Remington model 721 began production just after WWII. Teddy Roosevelt sang the praises of .06 in his writings. I just read in a popular outdoor magazine the 700 series Remington is the popular hunting rifle. I read some where they had an interesting history in Vietnam being issued to snipers. Mine shoots quarter sized groups, at 100 yds.
