Does anyone have any load data for the .303 British using SR4759 and the Lyman 314299? For some reason none of my manuals show any loads using this powder.

I use the surplus variety of SR4759 and I load 20 grs with the 314299. Don't have any chrono data, but I would guess it goes about 1600 fps. That would be a good place to start.

Here is my .303, a No4 MkI* , built by Long Branch in 1943. I think it is a fine looking rifle. The bore is a two groove in beautiful condition, but finicky about what it likes.

Vly,
Thanks for the information My rifle is a 1950 Longbranch with a five groove barrel. Seems to shoot very well with this bullet and H322 but wanted to try SR4759. Many thanks.

I have used that combo. Mine likes 18 gr best, but that's a rather light load. I'd start there and try 18, 20, 22, max of maybe 24.

I agree with 18 grains of SR 4759 as a particularly good load in my Long Branch No.4 too. Shooting across my Chrony shows about 1650 fps or close to 1800 fps with a light dacron puff to hold the powder back agains the primer. SR4759 isn't supposed to be position sensitive but it appears so with this load. Good accuracy in either case.
