From the searches I've done and subsequent reading, I think this question is akin to "The best Whitetail Caliber".:roll:

But as I;m sure most of you noticed, I haven't done any casting sincxe the 70's and I was a long way from ...good at it...then.

I have bullets cast now and I have Lee Alox. I also don't have a sizing /lube die for 452 yet.

This first batch of bullets are going into my 1911. I prefer a revolver and that's what I carry on the farm, but the 1911 is my City gun and I shoot it a lot.

The loads will be on the light side. Just enough to cycle the action and some leeway for accuracy.

What is the best lube for these?

Just tumble lube them with the LLA and you will be fine.

use what you have first.

peternap;
After you get set up with a lube/sizer for your bullet, I can recommend, without reservation, Lars white label Carnauba Red for all bullet lube requirements. It is harder than NRA 50/50 (not nearly so messy) has a higher melting point (it does require heat to apply) seems to smoke much less than 50/50, shoots EXTREMELY well, and to top it off it is inexpensive.

I just recieved some Carnauba Red from Lar's (see site at the bottom of this page) and the folks there are a pleasure to deal with, fast shipping also. I haven't had a chance to use any yet, but it's in my luber already to go.

I have had great results with LBT soft blue, no heat reqd. I still like old 50/50 NRA
beeswax/Alox, too.
