Has anyone shot the Ranch dog 300 gr. bullet in the Marlin .44 Mag SS?
What loads and speeds were best in your rifle?

I have shot them in the .444 but need to work up a load with them in the Marlin.44 mag.

The Lyman book has loads using 2400 (my favorite pistol powder).

What say you??

I had a Marlin 336-44 of 1967 vintage in 44 MAG !

And I shot both the Ranch Dog 432-265GC and 432-300GC .

With the 432-265GC I used 23 grains of H110.

With the 432-300GC I used 21 grains of H110 .

Got both these loads straight from the Ranch Dog himself !

6pt-sika , I thought that if anyone had shot RD bullets in the .44mag. it would be you.
Thanks for the reply. I dont need barn burner loads, our deer are small and I would not take that rifle east to hunt the open country. 1100-1200 fps should be enough from the 20" barrel. More is fine but don`t need a hard kicker just to gain a few fps.
What kind of accuracy did you get?

I tried them with 2400 as well but for the life of me I can't find my data and certainly don't remmember what it was . Seems to me that the recoil factor was a little less with the 2400 loads but 100 yard accuracy was better with the H-110 .

Chuck I agree with 6PT-Sika try 21.O Gr of H-110 or W-296. It might be faster than what you are looking for but it will shoot where you point it and that is what counts. Load for an accurate round not for speed.

I also use the 21gr of H110 with the RD 300gr bullet. My 1979 vintage 1894 Marlin likes them pushed a little harder than light loads. It is definately a great bullet in the 44mag.
