Team.

Ducked out the range at lunchtime and a fellow club member arrived with his newly acquired Kropatschek short rifle. It was in very nice condition with a bright bore. VERY shootable. Lovely old rifle.

Hmmm. Sounds Rooskie, but other than that, I am woefully ignorant.

Jeff, please enlighten me, what is a Kropat . . . . whatever. :-)

bill, most i have seen are marked steyr 1886. they look alot like a 71\84 mouser. they have a tube mag and shoot a big 8mm with a case that can be made from a 348 win. round is like a long 8mm lebel. as far as i know they were portugues military rifles.:castmine:

Holy crap! 4000 Euros is around $6000. No wonder I haven't seen one, I don't
travel in those circles much.

Thanks for the additional info. At that price, I'm not going to ever own one.
