Got in one of their 775gr boolit moulds (casts at 830gr) and tried three loads today. Two of them wouldn't hardly hit the paper (5010 and wc860) but the H50BMG powder did real well for the first outing. Nothing to brag about as far as size goes, but considering the difficulties I am haveing with the gun (AR50)in getting it to group, I am pleased, but will still see if I can get it smaller. The boolit has a small groove diameter band near the nose (actually way oversize--.513"--hard chambering).

Using #2 alloy, water quenched, lightly coated with thinned LLA then lubed in my 450 sizer (boolit is almost too long, can't use a top punch) seated over 207.2gr H50bmg, sparked by the CCI#35 primer in nickle LC94 cases. Group is at 100yds, velocity is 2400fps-------almost 11,000ft-lbs . Group is slightly under 2"

Wow, I am amazed that you can push those bullets that fast in a 1:15 twist barrel and still keep any accuracy. Cool!

Rockrat: Those bullets look to be yawing a bit.

WOW,
33 rounds = 1lb powder & 4 lbs lead. I sure hope that is a fun one to shoot cause it sure is expensive....

If you shot it, No. 1, you would answer your own question!!

Slightly under 2 inches is not bad unless your trying to shoot this thing real far. Some inexpensive ($1500) 50's can barely hold that with J-words.

I'm impressed.

It would be neat if you could size them down enough to try paper-patching them. I guess the muzzle break would make that a bad idea.

How about a pic of the boolit compared to an Amax?

Here is a pic. NEI boolit on left and CBE boolit on right. Band on the NEI comes out to .515" and I have to pound on the bolt handle to close the bolt. Not good. Ran the nose thru a Lee .510 die. Second picture shows 198.9gr IMR5010 @2311fps. Under 2" for 4 shots. Also had to pound bolt closed. Going to run next batch thru a Lee .501" die to size the nose and get rid of the band. See what happens.

Actually it is less than 2" , This is from the FCSA Home page, and yes .045" does make a difference.

"Lee Rasmussen set a new .50 BMG Single Target World Record at the FCSA 2009 World Championships held at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM this 4th of July by shooting a 1.955" 5-shot group in the Heavy Gun Class 1000yd record competition and by doing so breaks the late Skip Talbot’s 2.600" long standing single-group record set in 1999 by over 1/2". Lee’s group works out to .1868 MOA."

I have a pair of, DJ Habitual Tinkering, uppers, 24" and 36" barrels, I just got the NOE 512-500 FN to do some playing with.
