I need a load suggestion for a .309, 190 grain, Gas checked SPT cast lead bullet.
I will be shooting these out of a PTR 91 F (HK 91 Clone)

The powder I am using at the moment is Hodgdon Benchmark and
Varget, but any other powder brands are not out of the question.

Any help would be much appreciated..

Check out the Stickie at the top of this forum, "7.62X51 NATO in the Springfield M1A".

Everything you always wanted to know and then some. Bruce B has already done all your work for you. [smilie=s:

BTW, welcome to the asylum.

Benchmark should work but the Varget may be hard to ignite. Not heard one way or the other on Varget with low pressure loads but in general anything slower than 4895 doesn't give consistent burn at low pressures.

I have had good success using 4895 in my M1A Scout using both a 195gr and a 180 gr cast.
