I have a BFR in 45LC/410. I absolutely love it in 410. It's my walking around pistol at the farm. I usually carry it with the first chamber loaded with #6 and the rest in buckshot....

It does not set the world on fire with 45's though. I suspect the length of the cylinder.

I haven't really played with longer cases like the Mongo yet and it's one of those back burner projects. Until then...anyone found a good 45 load for it yet?

Thanks!

I wonder if you made up 'slug' loads with 410 cases, wads and 45Boolits? worth a try I suppose. I always fancied one of those Judge pistols. I have absolutely no use for one of these, but i wouldn't mind one to play with. :D

I have an encore in 45 colt/410 and I am satisfied with mine at 25 yards shooting the colt load once I put fiber optic Williams Slugger Sights on it because the factory sights if you can call them that (A notch and a bead on the rib) just was not doing the job. With the add on sights at 25 yards I was getting half dollar size groups with it wich is not bd considering the set up.

heck, who knows, maybe .460 S&W brass LOADED LIGHT for .460 standards, might improve accuracy. I would try the .460 brass and research the light loads for it. If it is a BFR, it should be plenty strong, but dont push your luck too far. Also, make sure of chamber specs, you may have to trim them back and thusly making a truely unique caliber. Just a though, never know, might work, but be careful.

What does that mean? Could you elaborate? :coffeecom

I had a45/410 contender in 10'', I just loaded 445supermag brass with 45 boolets and used 445 load data. It took 3-4 firings to completely fire form the brass, so I'm guessing the pressure is not too high. Hope this helps...lost
