Yup. I just had to try it!

I started off by 'reconstituting' a fired boolit. (By sizing it down to below bore ø). Then I gave it a full length wrap of tracing paper. Then, I gave it another, short wrap to bring the shank up to size.

Because there was that skirt, I decided to use it to test the wax wad principle. I placed a small cotton ball over the powder and seated the boolit with the second patch fully within the neck. The wax wad rested on the powder. The recovered boolit shows no slipping. The first patch brought the sized boolit up to bore diameter.

There were two holes in the 'patch catcher' medium. Presumably the second hole was from the wax wad. No patch pieces were discernable.

The question is, will it shoot straight? The expansion looks good!

I had the two-groove 303 Brit in mind with this one. The idea being to achieve minimal boolit distortion since a two-groove swages a bullet down to bore size.

Try this with a cast boolit and serious heel distortion occurs. The recovered experimental double patched boolit shows no sign of base distortion, so from that point, it was mission accomplished.
